Truth For Youth – October 2004

What do you think a holy person learns? He or she learns to look at life from God’s point of view. This type of person is always ready to learn and to adjust his or her way of living to line up with the teachings of the Lord. The holy person is careful not to be presumptuous in what is said or done. If you can live this way, you will be a holy person.
-Nohemí Melendez

-Jeremiah 1:6-8

“Ah, Sovereign LORD ,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.”

But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD .

A few days ago I saw the video “Enciende una Luz” (Shine the Light) by Marcos Witt and I was thinking about what Marcos was saying—that there are more than 2.4 million people who have never heard of Jesus.

As young people, we should be sharing the good news with those who don’t know Jesus. This will bring a great blessing to your life. I beg you to take the time to share the word of God with others.

-Matthew 28:19-2

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Today I would like to tell you something. Perhaps you and I don’t know each other but I want you to know that it has been a huge blessing to me to be able to write for Truth for Youth and I have never taken the time to thank you for taking the time to read these thoughts.

Perhaps you are wondering how I can write these. The Bible says that if we ask for wisdom, it will be given to us. So I ask God to help me and He does.

Ask and it will be given to you. You can say why should I ask God for wisdom? Maybe it will help you in school.
-Nohemí Melendez

-Proverbs 4:5-7

Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or swerve from them.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you.
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

I don’t know if you remember the thought I wrote before about sharing the word of God. There is a song that is called “Between heaven and the fire”. Remember that each day there are people who die not knowing if they will go to heaven or hell. Perhaps there are people who will tell you that hell doesn’t exist. But think about it—if hell does exist (as the Bible says), where will that type of person go after death.

Let us preach the Word to all.
-Nohemí Meléndez

-Hebrews 9:27

Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment

I want to ask you to do something today. Now maybe you are thinking “Now what does she want”. In the past few days I have been thinking about the meaning of trusting in God. A few days ago I was talking with a friend and I told him that I was worried about all the extra expenses there have been in my family lately and that I didn’t know how to help my parents. My friend told me something very wise—leave it all in the hands of God.

I need to always remember that always and in every circumstance we need to trust God. So now I want to ask you to do the same because He is the only One who can help us. Always remember this.
-Nohemí Meléndez

-Psalm 78:6-7

so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands

We are in a very beautiful month. Here in Mexico we celebrate Independence Day in October. I know that in the US another day is Independence Day but for us, it is October 16th.

It is also a beautiful month because I was born in October. God gave me life and I thank Him because He has helped me and has never left me alone.

I am also very thankful to my parents because they have encouraged me throughout my life.

A couple of months ago, I finished secondary school. I know that the schools here in Mexico are very different from the schools in other countries. Perhaps you wonder how I know that. Well I have learned many things in school, even things that really aren’t taught in school. One thing I have learned is to love my neighbor and in this case I am referring to my classmates, with whom I shared my times of sadness, laughter, etc. They were like family and now that we are apart, I am saddened because I won’t be seeing them.

If you are in school, value your friends. Love them and share the Word of God with them. Remember the second great commandment of the Bible: Love your neighbor as yourself.
-Nohemí Meléndez

-Matthew 22:39

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself

I don’t know if you have ever made a covenant with God or with another person. In my case, I have. A very special friend and I have made a covenant before God. I believe God has helped us and will continue to help us since His word says He will never leave us or forsake us.

If you would like to do the same, tell God that you want to make a covenant promise to Him and He will help you fulfill that promise.
-Nohemí Meléndez

-Acts 7:22

Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.

Lately I have been talking to God a great deal about trusting Him. I believe we need to always trust God. God has helped me in many things and I will never tire of proclaiming the wonderful things He has done in my life and in the lives of my friends.

I have always trusted in God and He has always helped me. I encourage you to do the same.
-Nohemí Meléndez

so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
