The Good in Good Friday

The Good in Good Friday

April 7, 2023

There is a lot of talk about what is so good about Good Friday. Well, Good Friday wasn’t just another Friday. Although there are millions of people who live like it’s just another Friday every day of every year. On Good Friday, Jesus, the Son of God, gave up His life to be sacrificed for the eternal good of all mankind. As He hung on the cross of Calvary He looked out through His pain and tears and saw eternity and all of mankind having the opportunity to live forever the way God intended. That’s how it became known as Good Friday because God was doing something very, very good. Yes, it is Friday but Sunday’s coming!

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him. Matthew 27:27-31
