In northern Minnesota the leaves are changing and the nights are cooling down. It is a sure sign that fall is here and, winter is coming! It is so foolish that people don’t get the things they need done to be prepared for winter.
The Bible also teaches us of sure signs. Foolish people aren’t preparing for them either!

-Mark 13:5-8 NIV
Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Funny thing about kids, when they have their shoes on the wrong feet everyone knows it but them. So it is when adult Christians live out of God’s will!

-Col 2:6-7 NIV
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Did it ever occur to you that nothing ever occurred to God?

-Jer 9:23-24 NIV
This is what the LORD says:
“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
24 but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the LORD.

Just when I thought I had seen everything, I saw something new. I was driving down the interstate on my birthday when I passed a car and there was something strange sitting in the passenger’s seat of his late model four door Buick. As I slowed down to take a closer look I discovered that he had a Holstein calf sitting in the front seat with him. Obviously, you don’t see many Holstein calves out for a leisure drive! As I pondered the situation I thought, “This shouldn’t surprise me. Everything seems to be crazy anymore!”
Then I remembered what a dear elderly lady said to me some months ago, “God is never surprised.” God knows what is going on in this world today and He is still in charge. All of the natural disasters, the crimes in the streets, the shattered dreams, the broken hearts, crushed families and the cry of children for mommy or daddy… God knows them all. It doesn’t mean He approves but it does mean that He knows. Therefore, I choose to rest in His knowledge and grace that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
If you feel disappointed or angry with God today because your life isn’t what you thought it should be, your circumstances have not surprised God. In fact, He is closer to you than ever even in the midst of all the craziness. If you can’t find peace with God when there is trouble in your life, you will never remember to seek His peace when things are going well!

-Matt 6:9-15 NIV
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
3 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
