Welcome

Lyn & Lonna Sahr

My Name is Lyn Sahr. I am the founder and author of the ChurchMouse Chronicles. Thank you for dropping in.

In October of 1997, the ChurchMouse Chronicles began with an unsolicited email to about a dozen of my friends and relatives. Today it is sent out and forwarded to a countless number of people across America and many foreign countries.

A few months earlier I had resigned my position as a Senior Pastor. After nearly 20 years I wanted to take two years away from pastoral ministry with hopes of having time to finish and write a number of projects I had in mind. I determined that I wanted to do something to keep my “Ministry Edge.” Thus, the ChurchMouse Chronicles “Thought For The Day” was born. The intention was to take a thought provoking look at the congregation and the pastor through the eyes of the ChurchMouse.

During the first year it grew to in excess of 200 people. In the second year the website was created and the email list continued to grow. During a 7-day period in June of 1999, the website had over 25,000 hits. Frankly, I am amazed and humbled how God has used the “Thought For The Day” and the ChurchMouse Chronicles website. All of the material that is on the Thought For The Day or the website is written by me unless another name is attached to it.

In July of 1999 I first revealed my identity after numerous inquiries. I never used my name because I was not seeking a reputation or personal credit. However, an email caused me to reconsider. It expressed concerns that perhaps this ministry could be misinterpreted because of no “person” identity. I want people to know that I am an evangelical Christian offering some simple words that are meant to challenge, encourage and comfort the church.

I have pastored churches that were in need of re-birthing, a new beginning if you will. Re-developing churches is a unique ministry in these days of church planting. I just always felt that the dying church was worth saving. Obviously not very denominationalized, I went where there was need. I have re-birthed churches in the Church of the Nazarene, The Christian and Missionary Alliance, Baptist General Conference and Evangelical Free Church of America. I have also been involved in starting a number of other ministries including a Christian High School and a pro-life ministry center.

I have been married to my wife Lonna for nearly 40 years. We were high school seekersbayOV3.jpg (309033 bytes)sweethearts and now reside on a bay on beautiful Lake Pokegama on what I call “Seekers Bay” near our home town of Pine City, Minnesota. We have four adult daughters, three of which are married. On September 12, 2001 we welcomed into the world our first grandchild, Malachi Terry. Malachi means “Messenger of God.” On November 2, 2003 we welcomed into the world our second grandson Grant Michael. Grant means “Great.” On February 8, 2004 we welcomed into the world Haeven Lonna, our beautiful little granddaughter. We feel so blessed to have these precious gifts from God.

Please pray that God will continue to inspire me as it is only by His presence and inspiration that I am able to carry on this very unique ministry. Praise The Lord!
