What’s the Hurry?

What’s the Hurry?

This morning I was driving down the freeway to my office and five vehicles passed me like I was standing still. I thought I must be driving slowly but when I looked at my speedometer I was driving I was going seventy four miles per hour. It was a surprise to me that I was going so fast so I slowed down a bit to the speed limit. But the question is, why everyone else was going so fast. It seems like everyone is in a hurry these days.

Yes, we live in a day of speed and lots of it. We are in a hurry at the grocery store or we order ahead of time and just pick up the groceries outside. Is there anything that we are not in a hurry for these days? The speed in which we are functioning has caused major issues for everyone. As I think about the daily shootings taking place all over the country it causes me deep, deep concerns for the mental health of our nation.

So what’s the answer? There is only one thing that makes any sense whatsoever. Run full steam to God and He will give you the peace you are in need of and you can count on it. God is the author of life and He knows what each of us need. Only God can give you real peace though no matter what you are experiencing.

76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
79 to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
-Luke 1:76-79
