Empty is Just Empty
When I was driving my car the other day, I realized that there was a sudden blaring sound coming from it and a light on my dash that said fuel shortage. It was a loud, blaring unkind sound that let me know the car was hungry for more gas. As I looked at the gas station on my side of the street it said $3.69 a gallon for regular gas but I drove just a very short distance to another station just down the street and the sign said $3.03 per gallon. That’s an incredibly higher price at the first station and so I filled up my car at the second station. That is $.66 a gallon cheaper or $9.90 cheaper by going to the other station. Unbelievable marketing differences.
So, it often is with churches. I looked up a church on the internet and it had a very common name but when I got online, they had changed the name of the church to a very cooperate sounding word. I decided to watch it online but when it said it was coming on it just didn’t, and I soon discovered they had also changed the service times but had not done so on the website. Just changing names doesn’t fill the pews or peoples hearts. Choose a church by what they believe, their spirit and their attitude towards new people who come to their church. And don’t worry about the name.
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. -Psalms 16:11
