Good Morning Pastor!
As many pastors are planning for time off this summer, many will take too short of a time to really refresh themselves. I have a pastor friend who takes an entire month at one time. I have never done that and I always thought it would be hard to be gone so long. However, he contends that it takes him three weeks to get to a point where he can really rest and enjoy the fourth week. You may not be able to or have four weeks of vacation time coming this summer but one thing I highly recommend; take a lengthier block of vacation time this year than you have in the past and see what a difference it makes to you and your congregation.
The events in the Middle East should serve as a reminder to us of the Bible prophecies of the end times. It is easy to get so busy with everyday ministry and family events that we forget that Jesus is really coming back one of these days. Paul believed that the time was short way back then so wisdom tells us that we should be reminding our congregations that Jesus is coming back again. And it could be at any time.
As we look at other world’s events, we must also find ourselves drawn to the second coming of Christ. When out young people shoot total strangers on our streets we should be alarmed. When the church is depicted as weak and unrighteous, we should be struck with grief. I could go on for pages but you know what is going on in our world and you know the signs given to us by the prophets of old. And we know that we are daily getting closer to the return of our Lord for the church. Perhaps it is time to preach it from out pulpits and let the Holy Spirit fan the revival fires in our churches and communities.
Remember, Jesus is coming back again!
In His Delight,
